Tottenham transfer news: Conditions of Arnaut Danjuma move revealed by Villarreal as Conte signing is announced
Villarreal have revealed whether Tottenham have the chance to sign Arnaut Danjuma permanently after the north London side confirmed his arrival.
Danjuma has made 17 appearances for Villarreal in all competitions this season, finding the back of the net six times. However, it was unlikely he would spend the full campaign at Villarreal as he soon became a target for several Premier League teams.
Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Everton were all linked with moves for the 25-year-old, who can operate as a centre-forward or left winger.
Everton thought they had won the race for him when they reached an agreement with Villarreal over the weekend. Danjuma had even passed a medical at Goodison Park before Spurs raced in to snatch the signing.
They agreed a deal of their own with the La Liga side on Tuesday. And the transfer has now reached completion, with Spurs announcing his arrival on their website.
A club statement read: ‘We are delighted to announce the signing of Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal until the end of the 2022/23 season, subject to international clearance.’
Villarreal provided a little bit more information on the move. In a statement of their own, they revealed Spurs have the option to sign Danjuma permanently in the summer.
However, Antonio Conte’s side will only do this if Danjuma impresses over the next six months. It will be hard for the Netherlands international to do this, given the rich attacking options Conte has at his disposal, but Danjuma will have belief he can make an impact.
This is not his first time playing in England, either. Danjuma was at Bournemouth between August 2019 and August 2021. In that time he made 52 appearances for the Cherries, registering 17 goals and eight assists.
Meanwhile, Spurs could land a £26.4million goalkeeper as Hugo Lloris’ replacement, according to an Italian journalist.
