Tottenham plot stunning raid on London rivals as Postecoglou eyes replacement for outgoing flop
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified two centre-back targets as Ange Postecoglou eyes replacement options for Davinson Sanchez.
The Australian manager is charged with rebuilding the Spurs squad after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, which saw them finish in eighth place in the table.
Indeed, Tottenham are focusing on improving their defensive options this summer. The London club conceded 63 goals this season – the sixth-worst record in the Premier League.
Ultimately, this played a big role in Tottenham’s failure to qualify for Europe for the first time since 2009. So, it will be interesting to see who they bring in.
As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Sanchez is expected to leave the club after falling down the pecking order at Spurs. The Colombia international made just 18 Premier League appearances in 2022/23, so, he has been deemed surplus to requirements.
Therefore, Postecoglou will have to bring in someone to replace him. Ideally, someone with the quality to slot straight into the starting XI.
Now, they have identified two centre-backs they could bring in this summer. One of whom plays for one of Tottenham’s London rivals.

Tottenham eye Fulham centre-back
According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Postecoglou is interested in signing Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo this summer.
On Twitter, he wrote: “Exclusive: Tosin Adarabioyo is among the centre-back options being considered by Tottenham.
“There is one year left on his deal at Fulham and he is open to leaving the club.”
Adarabioyo made 25 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers this season.
Generally, he found himself behind Tim Ream and Issa Diop in the pecking order. But, he is still well thought of by Marco Silva.
However, Adarabioyo is keen for more consistent playing time elsewhere. So, a switch to Tottenham could be on the cards.
But, he is not the only centre-back Spurs have their eye on. As per a separate report from Japanese outlet Sponichi Annex, Stuttgart defender Hiroki Ito is also on their radar.
The 24-year-old put in 30 solid appearances in the Bundesliga in 2022/23. He also made one appearance for Japan in the World Cup last year.
Postecoglou has a record of signing Japanese players from his time at Celtic. In fact, he is looking to bring Hoops attacker Kyogo Furuhashi to Tottenham.
With that in mind, it wouldn’t be a major shock for Spurs to sign Ito. So, it will be interesting to see whether Spurs seal deals for both Adarabioyo and the Stuttgart defender this summer.
