Sources: Man Utd to poach outstanding £33m Everton talent as Ten Hag clears path for homegrown star to leave
Manchester United are plotting a move for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana should the Toffees suffer relegation, TEAMtalk understands.
United are looking for a new midfielder this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his squad and they have been impressed by Onana in his debut season in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old has arguably been Everton’s outstanding performer this season after his arrival from Lille last summer, for a fee of approximately £33m.
Everton are aware they would find it difficult to keep hold of the Belgium international should they be relegated from the Premier League and his suitors are actively monitoring the situation.
The likes of Arsenal and Newcastle have been linked with Onana, but now United are ready to join the hunt for the 6ft 4in powerhouse.
United have been linked with a number of midfielders, including Jude Bellingham, but Onana could be a more attainable target especially if Everton go down.
This is partly due to the fact that Scott McTominay could leave the Red Devils this summer. Interestingly, Newcastle are the current favourites to bring him in.
Onana is likely to seek a move away from Everton if they suffer relegation and the player is interested in playing at the highest level possible to cement his place in the Belgium squad.
