Also known as the Hatters, Luton Town were founded in 1885. Currently playing in The Championship, this Bedfordshire-based team have been based at Kenilworth Road since 1905. Luton were the first club in the south of England to become fully professional when they started paying their players in 1891. Along the way they have accumulated several honours, most notably as winners of the League Cup in 1987/88. They also finished as runners-up in the FA Cup in the season of 1958/59. Meanwhile their highest ever league finish was a creditable seventh place in the top flight in 1986/87 when they were managed by Ray Harford.
Currently managed by Nathan Jones, the team is captained by English defender Sonny Bradley. Other significant names in the team include veteran striker Cameron Jerome and former Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury. While these are some of the more recent players to don the club's famous orange and navy strip, other significant names from the past include the likes of Bob Morton, Brian Stein, Bruce Rioch and Mick Harford.
Some of Luton's most prominent fans include England cricket stars Monty Panesar and Alastair Cook and comedian Eric Morecambe.
