Liverpool man urges Solanke to leave Anfield amid transfer talk

On-loan Rangers Ovie Ejaria has urged Dominic Solanke to leave Liverpool and get first-team football at Ibrox.

Ejaria left Liverpool for Scotland in the summer on a season-long loan along with Ryan Kent and he has thrived with Steven Gerrard in Glasgow, making 17 appearances.

And now he has encouraged England Under-21 striker Solanke to join him up north after failing to make an appearance for the Reds this season.

“Rangers are a very good club and I’ve enjoyed my time here so far,” said Ejaria, as cited in the Liverpool Echo. “If I was to speak to Dom about it, I would only have good things to say about Rangers.

“Dom is a very good player. I’ve known him for a very long time. He’s another goalscorer. He scores a lot of goals, so if he was to come to Rangers in January, it would be a very good addition to the squad.

“It would also increase the strength in depth in the squad and he would be a very good addition. And don’t forget Kyle Lafferty, who is another top striker.”

Solanke, 21, despite impressing on England duty, has failed to make a Premier League matchday squad this season and speculation has emerged about his future.

Fotomac claim that Galatasaray sent a delegation to Liverpool over the weekend to try and hammer out a loan move to the Turkish club.

The outlet reckon that chairman Abdurrahim Albayrak has been talking with the Reds about a potential move for Divock Origi, but now they have switched their focus to Solanke after his goals for the England U21s.

Rangers are also in for Solanke, claim the same source, while the Scottish Sun also report that Gerrard is keen on a January move for the former Chelsea man.

According to talkSPORT though Liverpool will not allow Solanke to leave in January with Jim White claiming he has been told by an Anfield contact that there is “no chance” of Solanke heading to Ibrox in January.

And speaking at Melwood on Friday, Klopp said as much and made it clear that he would be in favour of keeping Solanke despite not giving him a chance this season.

“It’s a bit difficult [Solanke’s] situation here but if Dom continues like he did so far then he will be fine,” said Klopp.

“There’s nothing to say about short or long-term things. He is our player. If I have to decide it will stay like that.”
