Leeds, Arsenal battling Wolves for Championship starlet ‘likely to leave’

Michael Olise

Three Premier League clubs are interested in signing Reading winger Michael Olise before the domestic deadline, according to a report.

The transfer window remains open until Friday for deals between Premier League and EFL sides. It means plenty of talent from the Championship could still get a move to a bigger club.

Time is running out for top flight teams to sign their targets, so it could be a busy couple of days in the transfer market.

As part of a wider feature looking at EFL players who could move on before the deadline, the Daily Mail mentions Olise as a potential target for Premier League clubs.

Olise made his first team debut for Reading in 2019 and has since registered 29 appearances. Last month, he scored his first goal in professional football.

As he continues his rise to prominence, Olise is “likely to leave” Reading, according to the Mail. And he has three suitors in the Premier League.

The report claims Leeds, Wolves and Arsenal are interested in the 18-year-old. Olise would be a signing for the future.

Top flight clubs have always been aware of the potential of Olise, who previously spent time in the academies of Chelsea and Manchester City.

Now, the French youth international – who is also eligible to represent England or Nigeria – is beginning to show what he can do at senior level. He has started all four of Reading’s games in the Championship so far this season, adding two assists to his one goal.

Leeds unlikely to sign Cantwell

Leeds’ links with Olise may be a further sign that they are moving on from Todd Cantwell.

The Norwich starlet had been a target at Elland Road as Leeds continue their search for an attacking midfielder. However, it appears the Whites are backing down.

Cantwell was omitted from Norwich’s squad for their last two Championship games, fuelling speculation of an exit.

But even though Leeds still like the player, one factor has emerged that has forced them to cool their interest.
