Ivan Perisic to Premier League reportedly on the cards as journalist claims deal is done
Ivan Perisic has reportedly agreed terms with Chelsea, and will soon make the switch to the Premier League from Inter Milan.
Perisic has been a tremendous player at the top level for a number of years. It was at Wolfsburg when he truly began to show himself to be a top talent.
The Croatian contributed to 15 league goals for the German side in the 2013/14 season. Two years later, he made the big switch to Inter Milan, for a fee in the region of £17million.
Perisic has been one of Inter’s most crucial assets for much of his time at the club. He has netted 54 goals and provided 48 assists for the Italian giants.
He scored a total of 37 league goals in his first four seasons at the club, and was then loaned back to Germany, where he played for big hitters Bayern Munich. Once again, he showed his class in Germany, netting eight goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions in just 35 games.
He has continued to show his class for Inter upon his return to the club. The winger is out of contract with Inter in the summer, but is negotiating a new deal with the side.
However, reports state that Perisic wants £100,000 per week, which Inter do not want to stretch to. As such, it appears that he will leave the club, per Sport Mediaset.
That report states that the winger has an agreement in place with Chelsea to join the club in the summer, as stated by journalist Sandro Sabatini, and it seems the move is all but confirmed.
“There is a rumour in the last few hours: Perisic has a practically already formalised agreement with Chelsea,” he said.
“Perisic has already reached an agreement with Chelsea: the medical examinations and the last formalities to ratify the agreement are missing, but if the Croatian does not go to Chelsea we could be seeing a sensational twist.”
Perisic move would benefit Chelsea
Moving for Perisic would benefit Chelsea for a number of reasons. Despite him being 33 years of age, he has still been performing to a good standard for the past few seasons.
In fact, his age shows his experience, as he has been plying his trade at the top level for years now.
A free transfer is a bonus for Chelsea, too. With sanctions possibly still in place when a new owner takes over, bringing in quality players for free will be crucial.
As such, the potential snare of Perisic seems a very good one, should Chelsea pull it off.
