Huddersfield set to offer escape route for out-of-favour Liverpool striker

Huddersfield Town are interested in taking Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan in January, according to reports.

Solanke has struggled for gametime at Anfield since moving from Chelsea in 2017, and is yet to make a Premier League appearance this season.

However, he is impressing at international level, scoring braces in successive games for England U21s in the recent international break.

According to Sky Sports News, Huddersfield boss David Wagner is hoping to use his good relationship with Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp to bring the striker to the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Terriers aren’t the only club interested in a loan move for the 21-year-old, with Crystal Palace and West Ham also monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, Rangers midfielder Ovie Ejaria, who is on loan from Liverpool, recently urged Solanke to follow him to the Scottish Premiership to play under Steven Gerrard.

Ejaria told the Liverpool Echo: “Rangers are a very good club and I’ve enjoyed my time here so far.

“If I was to speak to Dom about it, I would only have good things to say about Rangers.

“Dom is a very good player. I’ve known him for a very long time. He’s another goalscorer. He scores a lot of goals, so if he was to come to Rangers in January, it would be a very good addition to the squad.

“It would also increase the strength in depth in the squad and he would be a very good addition. And don’t forget Kyle Lafferty, who is another top striker.”
