Arsenal man reaches ‘total understanding’ over summer exit, clubs ‘intends’ to sign him

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has reportedly reached a ‘total understanding’ to leave the club, as a European team ‘intends’ to sign him this summer.

Bellerin made 35 appearances for the Gunners last term, chipping in with one goal and four assists. He could only help Arsenal finish eighth in the Premier League and reach the Europa League semi-final.

As such, Arsenal chiefs went on a major spending spree in the summer. They brought in several stars including Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Martin Odegaard on a permanent basis.

Tomiyasu’s arrival saw Bellerin look for a way out. He knew Mikel Arteta would likely go with the Japan international at right-back.

As such, 27-year-old Bellerin secured a deadline-day love move to Real Betis. It is the club he supports and he is certainly enjoying his time there.

Bellerin is a first-team regular, having featured 28 times in all competitions so far. That includes outings in the UEL and Copa del Rey.

Betis were knocked out of Europe in the round of 16 by German side Eintracht Frankfurt. However, they can pick up some silverware this month as they face Valencia in the Copa del Rey final.

Hector Bellerin to go through with exit

Back in January, Bellerin hinted his time in north London could be up. He also praised his replacement Tomiyasu, calling the energetic full-back ‘great’.

And it seems the four-cap Spain international is preparing to go through with his Arsenal exit.

According to Sport Witness, who cite Spanish outlet ABC Sevilla, Betis have ‘expressed’ their desire to land him permanently this summer.

They ‘intend’ to make his loan move a long-term deal, even if it will cost a significant fee.

Bellerin recently held a meeting with Betis officials over the proposal and came to a ‘total understanding’ with them.

The player’s agent is ‘satisfied’ that it is a worthy transfer for his client.

However, it is not plain sailing for the Spanish outfit. The report claims Bellerin’s head could go elsewhere if they fail to qualify for Europe.

Betis currently sit fifth in La Liga, with 16 victories from 30 matches. But Real Sociedad are right behind them, helping to make it an intriguing end to the campaign.
