Sources: Newcastle make decision on re-signing former striker as Isak, Wilson learn their fate

Newcastle are unlikely to pursue a move to bring Ivan Toney back to the club this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

Recent reports have suggested Newcastle are considering a move to re-sign Brentford hitman Toney five years after selling the England international.

Toney has been in brilliant form for Brentford so far this season, netting 18 goals and providing four assists in 29 Premier League appearances. And that form has led to claims that he could quit the Bees this summer with a plethora of big-name suitors waiting to pounce.

To that end, Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, as well as the Magpies, are all being linked with moves.

Such has been his form that the 27-year-old was rewarded with his England debut against Ukraine last month.

As a result, Brentford are bracing themselves for interest in Toney this summer.

However, sources have told TEAMtalk that Newcastle are not planning a move for the powerful forward.

Signing a new striker is not amongst Newcastle’s top priorities during this summer’s transfer window, with Eddie Howe prioritising other areas of his squad.

Howe is happy with his current strikers Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson. And he feels that, despite concerns over their injury records, both players offer enough for his side going forward.

Toney, who joined Newcastle from Northampton in 2015 only ever made two first-team appearances for the Magpies. Indeed, he spent most of his time on Tyneside out on loan before establishing himself at Peterborough and then Brentford.
