Tottenham, Everton target arrives for Bournemouth meeting as O’Neil prepares convincing pitch to seal deal
Bournemouth boss Gary O’Neil is meeting Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma for talks over a potential move back to the club, TEAMtalk understands.
Danjuma is a target for a number of clubs during this month’s transfer window, including Everton, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.
Villarreal are open to letting Danjuma leave this month and the 25-year-old is understood to be in England for talks with interested parties.
Everton have already had an offer rejected for the Netherlands international, while Danjuma’s other suitors are hoping to bring him to bolster their attacking options.
Bournemouth chief O’Neil is keen to add to his side’s attacking options before the close of the transfer window and he sees Danjuma as someone who could provide the goals to lift his side to safety in the Premier League.
Danjuma had a two-year spell at Bournemouth between 2019 and 2021 before joining Villarreal. The forward has impressed for the Yellow Submarine in La Liga and also the Champions League.
Former star could make Cherries return
O’Neil will have a tough job to convince Danjuma to return to the South Coast amid the rival interest and he will need all his powers of persuasion to talk the forward into joining a relegation battle.
During his first spell at the Vitality Stadium, Danjuma scored 17 goals from 52 appearances. For Villarreal, he has been more prolific, managing 22 goals from 51 appearances.
This season, he has scored six times from 17 games. Only 10 of his appearances have been as a starter, though.
Danjuma’s contract with Villarreal is due to run until 2026. But a move long before then is a growing possibility.
Bournemouth have also agreed a deal for Lorient winger Dango Ouattara after TEAMtalk revealed one week ago that they had moved into contention to sign him.
The fee for the 20-year-old will be in the region of £20million. He is now on course to become Bournemouth’s first signing of the January transfer window.
