Conte told veteran winger deal is ‘likely’ with Tottenham talks ‘well advanced’
Antonio Conte has reportedly been told an experienced winger is ready to make the move to Tottenham with talks seemingly advancing in recent days.
The Italian manager faces a huge task in turning around a Tottenham side that has been on the slide for a couple of seasons. Conte and director Fabio Paratici need a host of signings and departures if Spurs are to become a force once again.
The north London outfit are firmly in the race for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic. However, the goalscorer is also on the wish list of several other European clubs. Man City and Juventus are the most notable examples.
Recent reports suggest Fiorentina are willing to accept less than their initial valuation for Vlahovic. A bid of just £34m could be enough to bring him to England.
Spurs are also considering their goalkeeper options. With Hugo Lloris’ deal due to expire in the summer, Tottenham are reportedly looking at a couple of additions, with an England international very much on their list.
However, Conte’s first signings could come in midfield. To that end, a Juventus star is seemingly on his radar ahead of the January window.
Now though, reports in Germany claim Spurs are in the hunt to sign veteran Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
Perisic ‘finally heading to the Premier League’
He’s a player well known to English audiences after being chased long and hard by Jose Mourinho during his time at Manchester United.
He was also on the scoresheet as Croatia overcame England in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
However, it seems a move to the Premier League is finally on the cards if Sport 1 are accurate.
Antonio Conte 'keen' on Roma's Nicolo Zaniolo
Tottenham are reportedly keen on sealing a deal for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, who’s struggling for game time under former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, with more news on Matthijs de Ligt, Franck Kessie and Dusan Vlahovic.
They state Perisic is being eyed by Borussia Dortmund as an option this summer. They are reportedly considering the 32-year-old as an option should they miss out on first choice Karim Adeyemi.
The 32-year-old spent two years with BVB between 2011 and 2013.
Ivan Perisic available for cut-price fee
However, the report claims he’s rejected a prospective return to his former club. Indeed, they report Perisic is instead likely to sign for Spurs.
They report a move to north London now ‘looks the most likely’ and that discussions are already ‘well advanced’.
Everton are also reportedly in the picture for Perisic, though the affect of Conte – who managed the player at Inter – gives Spurs the edge.
His contract at the San Siro is due to expire in the summer and he is elibible to open talks with overseas suitors on January 1.
However, Inter are seemingly looking to cash in next move and a nominal fee is likely to secure his signing.
Perisic has 48 goals in 222 appearances for Inter and also counts Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg among his former clubs.
