Aston Villa see bid for Newcastle, Tottenham attacking target rejected

Bournemouth have reportedly turned down a bid from Aston Villa for striker Callum Wilson, who is also wanted by Tottenham and Newcastle.

The bid is rumoured to have been between £13m and £15m with significant add-ons, while negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs, reports Sky Sports.

Villa chief Dean Smith wants to bring in a proven Premier League marksman this summer, after his side notched just 41 goals in 38 games last season.

England forward Wilson has scored 67 goals in 180 appearances for the Cherries since joining them from Coventry in 2014.

The 28-year-old is desperate to remain in the Premier League, and has also been linked with Spurs, Newcastle, West Ham and Fulham.

Jose Mourinho wants Wilson as back-up for Harry Kane at Tottenham. The Magpies, meanwhile, are reportedly willing to offer Matt Ritchie in a swap deal for the striker.

Bournemouth have already recouped £41m from the sale of Nathan Ake to Manchester City, while Aaron Ramsdale moved back to Sheff Utd for £18.5m.

Joshua King is also expected to leave, with Spurs and Manchester United both keen on the Norway attacker.

But it looks like the south coast club are holding out for more as far as Wilson is concerned, as they try and bounce straight back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

VILLA COMPLETE DEAL FOR NEW RIGHT-BACK

Aston Villa have signed full-back Matty Cash from Nottingham Forest for £16million.

The 23-year-old becomes Villa boss Dean Smith’s first summer signing and the defender has penned a long-term deal at Villa Park.

The transfer was agreed on Wednesday with Villa agreeing to pay Forest £14million and a further £2million in add ons.

Cash made more than 120 appearances for Forest, winning the 2020 player of the year award at the City Ground.

The Slough-born right-back made 45 appearances last season, scoring three goals and grabbing five assists. Read more…
