Nicknamed The Blues, this midlands club was founded in 1875 and originally called Small Heath Alliance. Its name changed a few times along the way before it settled at Birmingham City Football Club in 1943. Currently playing in the Championship, the club have been in the second tier of English football since their relegation from the Premier League in 2011. Over their long and storied history, the club have twice won the League Cup. They have been beaten finalists in the FA Cup on two occasions. They boast a highest league finish of sixth in the 1955/56 First Division, while they also reached ninth in the Premier League in the season of 2009/10.
The club is currently managed by Lee Bowyer who joins a long list of men who have successfully led the club over the years. Some of the great managers include Alex McLeish - who led them to their highest Premier League finish as well as a League Cup victory - Trevor Francis, Steve Bruce, Gil Merrick (who was the first manager to win a trophy for Birmingham) and Arthur Turner.

Some of the most iconic Birmingham players of all time include Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Malcolm Page and Christophe Dugarry.
