Arnaut Danjuma transfer news: Liverpool, Newcastle battle awaits after big Fabrizio Romano confirmation
Liverpool and Newcastle have received a huge lift if they’re intent on firming up their transfer interest in Villarreal ace, Arnaut Danjuma.
The Dutch winger, 25, is in the midst of a remarkable rise at present. Danjuma scored 17 in 37 for Bournemouth last season before earning a move to LaLiga with Villarreal. The Yellow Submarine forked out around €25m (£21.3m) for his signature.
Yet any fears over the step up in class have quickly and resoundingly been put to bed this year.
Indeed, Danjuma has produced an even better goals-per-game ratio with Villarreal. His current tally stands at 16 in 34 including six strikes in the Champions League.
His sparkling form has seen links over a rapid return to England emerge. Liverpool and Newcastle are both believed to be admirers, with a report recently revealing why the Magpies may in fact have the upper hand.
A release clause was known to be present within his deal, though the exact figure had never been disclosed.
Speculative reports had indicated it was around £64m, though per Fabrizio Romano, the true number is far lower.
The trusted transfer guru tweeted Danjuma’s release clause is actually set at €45m (£38.35m). That is the figure Spanish outlet Marca stated and Romano concurred with their reporting.
Newcastle's edge over Liverpool in the race for Arnaut Danjuma
The agent of Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma has revealed why Newcastle may have the edge over Liverpool in transfer negotiations for his client.
At that price, the list of suitors this summer will no doubt be a lengthy one. Indeed, Romano added Danjuma is ‘already on the list of many top clubs’, though stopped short of naming them.
Newcastle and Liverpool have drawn the most frequent links, while the Daily Mail previously reported Manchester United scouts were in attendance when Villarreal shocked Bayern Munich.
Who should pull the trigger for Arnaut Danjuma?
At around £38m, Danjuma is more than affordable for all three of Newcastle, Liverpool and Man Utd.
Romano recently insisted Liverpool will continue to target “smart deals” despite Man City going big with with Erling Haaland. Danjuma would undoubtedly fit into that category, though whether he is required is another matter entirely.
As a right-footed left winger, he may struggle to make his mark at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp can already call upon Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz for that position.
Instead, a move to St. James’ Park or Old Trafford would make more sense. Both are looking to make an addition in their forward ranks this summer and Danjuma has already proved himself at the highest level in the Champions League.
