West Ham transfer news: Arnaut Danjuma cost revealed, but one key issue could prevent deal
West Ham United are looking to complete a deal for Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma this summer, with the fee expected to be around £38.7m.
Danjuma enjoyed a successful season in La Liga last campaign, netting 10 times and assisting three from 23 appearances. His form attracted interest from within the Premier League, with Liverpool linked earlier this month. Now, West Ham are looking to join the race for his signature, however, faces stiff competition.
According to Relevo journalist Toni Juanmarti, the fee is expected to be around €36million, with variables added onto that.
The club are believed to have approached Villarreal about the deal, suggesting they are serious about the move.
But there are a number of other clubs also keen on the transfer. Danjuma is also believed to prefer a move to a Champions League club, which could rule West Ham out.
That being said, David Moyes is still confident the club can strike a deal with Villarreal.
Moyes wants West Ham to target a Champions League finish in future seasons. He is hoping that this ambition can convince Danjuma to make a switch to the London Stadium.
Arnaut Danjuma to solve West Ham attacking crisis
West Ham are in desperate need to improve their attacking options.
Aside from starters Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio, and Said Benrahma, the club have limited options for replacements from the bench.
Twenty-five-year-old Netherlands winger Danjuma could go a long way in helping the club solve this crisis.
Danjuma also has experience of football inside of England. He played for AFC Bournemouth across 2019-21, before completing his move to Villarreal.
In his first season, Danjuma made 14 Premier League appearances. However, that campaign he failed to register a single goal or assist.
The following season he seriously improved his game, albeit it in a lesser division. From 35 Championship games, he scored 17 goals, and also contributed seven assists.
Many Villarreal fans would also argue his game has improved further from this season.
And with time still on his side, the winger has plenty more chances to improve his game under Moyes.
