Liverpool target Arnaut Danjuma ‘will do everything’ to seal Villarreal exit as cut-price chance emerges
Arnaut Danjuma will reportedly try his best to engineer a transfer away from Villarreal this summer, with Liverpool monitoring him closely.
The 25-year-old has taken a fantastic step up following struggles at recently-relegated Bournemouth. Indeed, he played a bit-part role in the Premier League before the Cherries sold him to his La Liga employers.
However, 16 goals in a 34-appearance debut season this term have seen him emerge on the European radar.
Liverpool have namely had links with a move for him. In fact, Danjuma recently revealed transfer interest from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Danjuma also admitted in that recent interview that he would “have to consider” an opportunity to play on a “higher platform”.
According to the latest from El Periodico Mediterraneo, the Dutchman wants to leave Villarreal and ‘will do everything possible’ to seal an exit.
He reportedly feels he has not adapted to life in Spain following his move from Bournemouth.
And despite Danjuma having five years left on his Villarreal contract, the only issue is the fee for him. Previous reports have claimed that he has a €45million (£38million) release clause in his terms.
El Periodico Mediterraneo, though, says the winger’s agent will look for €40million (£34million) for his client.
It remains unclear if Villarreal would stick to the release clause or whether they would consider the slim discount.
Liverpool may have Danjuma competition
Earlier reports have brought Manchester United into the transfer equation alongside Liverpool for Danjuma.
The latest claims say, though, that Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are now keeping tabs on the Netherlands international.
Danjuma insisted that he was keen to keep his cards close to his chest over his future during the season.
Now that the transfer window is in full swing, though, he will take more notice of the rumours and interest in his services.
Liverpool could well do with a Sadio Mane replacement and a Danjuma deal may be perfect for the Reds.
Liverpool could do with winger signing
Mane is reportedly ready for a new challenge this summer, with Bayern Munich the frontrunners to sign him.
Bayern supposedly reckon £25million will do the trick for the Senegal international. Liverpool, though, want closer to £42.5million.
Should the Reds get their desired amount for Mane, they could have money left over after signing Danjuma to replace him.
The club’s Fenway Sports Group (FSG) owners have been responsible spenders at Anfield and this sort of deal fits the bill for their transfer policy.
